We begin the night with a featured artist set, then move into open performance slots. Performers are invited to perform original song, covers, accapellas or spoken word pieces.

Whether you are coming to listen, support someone you know, or share your own work, you are welcome here.

Shore Road Open Mic is a listening-first room. During performances, we keep our focus on the stage. Before and after the music, the room is open for conversation and connecting with the community.

What kinds of performances happen here?

We make room for all kinds of performances, from drum circles, jaw harps, and electronic music sets to choirs, acappellas, covers, covers of covers, and spoken word. We love variety.

Venue, parking, and arrival

We meet at Unity in Naperville, 1600 Shore Rd. Unit C, Naperville, Illinois 60563.

The venue is wheelchair accessible.

There is ample parking on site. If you are bringing equipment, a back parking lot is available for load-in closer to the stage.

If you arrive after music begins, please enter as quietly as possible and wait for an appropriate moment if someone is in the middle of a song.

What attendees should know

You do not need a ticket, and you do not need to RSVP.

Just come as you are. Shore Road Open Mic is open to the public and built for people who want to experience performances by local artists without distractions.

We ask audience members to help us protect that experience by silencing phones, pausing side conversations during songs, and giving whoever is on the stage the attention they deserve.

If this is your first time, you do not need to know anything special before you arrive. We work to keep the room easy to enter and easy to understand.

What performers should know

We welcome first-time performers and returning artists with equal enthusiasm.

Open performance slots are first-come, first-served at the door. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows.

Each open slot is up to 8 minutes. Shorter sets are welcome. We ask performers not to go longer so we can respect everyone who came to share their work.

If you are planning to perform and want to use backing tracks please send them to us at least 24 hours before the show.

Please bring your instrument, any cables or adapters your setup requires, and don’t forget your tuner!

If you have questions about our stage equipment and audio setup please reach out to the team. We are passionate about helping with special setup needs, helping performers have a great experience and making sure audio quality is top notch.

We record all performances and send performers their recordings after the show.

See our dedicated page for performers with additional details and FAQs here.

We offer one 20-minute featured artist slot each month.

This slot is meant for performers who want to help shape a thoughtful shared experience in the room. It is not simply a way to get more stage time.

Featured artists should be open to working with our team to discuss and/or collaborate on their set to ensure it supports a great audience experience and contributes to the open, supportive feel of the room.

If interested in being considered for a featured artist slot, please fill out our Featured Artist application form.
